letting go & moving on ?

It's one of those things people say- you can't move on until you've let go of the past. Letting go is the easy part; it's the moving on that's painful. So sometimes we fight it. Try and keep things the same. Things can't stay the same, though. At some point, you just have to let go. Move on. Because no matter how painful it is, it's the only way we grow.

Seems easy to say, but it is actually kinda hard to do for some of us. Others (idk why or how) find it easy. Getting over something quite quickly and then instantly moving on... I don't recall any situation where I have done so. Whenever I felt overwhelmed by some or several situations at one one of my instant reactions has been traveling (or escaping some might say)- only to disconnect for a bit and keep myself distracted. But then you all know about the post-vacation blues even if it's after a weekend getaway. So facing back reality can be a push over the edge for the 2nd time.

I don't think letting go is the easy part. It may be easier for some than moving on, though. I don't let go of sth easily since I am constantly overthinking things and finding theories for any possible situation, word or look (thank you insomnia you are kinda guilty of this).

And moving on? Well that's kinda harsh too. A part of you might want to move on, of course- but then you don't want to risk and be let down again, hurt. Might as well play it safe and be stone-hearted. What do we want? What should we do?

  1. Oh so true. We are all different and we all cope in different ways. Some can let it go, it's easy for them, other can move on without letting go. Beautiful written, girl.
