080 Barcelona Fashion: Fall Winter 17/18 trends

6:48:00 PM

080 Barcelona Fashion has brought many glimpses of the coming Fall/Winter 2017/18 trends. With a great tribute to  Pierre Cardin –musical inspired on Wilde’s Picture of Dorian Gray- presenting his latest collection, the fashion show awarded two Spanish designers: Antonio Miró with his collection “Orígens” inspired on the Amish people; and Oscarleon with “I close my eyes, I can feel you” inspired on urban, feminine and cosmopolitan women.

Young emerging fashion designers (like José Maria Garcia or Ze Garcia) could show their works, as well as well-known firms and names such as Custo Barcelona or Josep Abril. The National Theatre of Barcelona (TNC) hosted a great fashion show during this week and brought many insights to what’s to come in our fashion magazines, stores, ..and closets!

Colors: black and grey were the most present ones although there were also yellows, whites, reds and blues. As for patterns and styles, here is what will be the “it” thing on FW1718 campaigns:

Squares: in coats, blouses, skirts... and materials like wool and tweed

Cut outs: a trend that came last year and seems that is here to stay

ESCORPION

Tassels: another trend that came some time ago and is now making a comeback. Maybe this time tassels will be more present in skirts, and materials like leather (& also metalics and tassels together)

Maxi sleeves: we might have seen a bit of it in fast fashion stores lately but this trend will definitely stay

Metallics: they appeared last FW season and will remain as well in 17/18

Transparencies: another trend from time ago which made a comeback in 2016, now with different colors and pattern-mixing.

Flounces: I was not a fan of this exaggeration on fashion items but after seeing it on several clothes I admit I would give it a try.

  2. I like metallic items, but I am never sure how to style them. I really like squares and I need white shirt with black squares asap! Flounces I don't like, nor maxi sleeves, but who knows, maybe I change my point of view.

  7. Great post! I've been able to thrift a lot of these looks- metallics, sheers, and tartans/plaids. Some are harder, though. Cut outs and interesting sleeves are had to find second hand.
